AN ANALYTICAL STUDY OF SPORTS ACHIEVEMENT MOTIVATION BETWEEN MALE AND FEMALE BADMINTON PLAYERS

Purpose: The purpose of the study was to compare the Achievement motivation between male
and female badminton players who had represented their state-level tournaments.
Methodology: For the purpose of this study, 60 subjects (30 male and 30 female) were selected
randomly from different districts in Manipur. The ages of the subjects were ranged from 18 to
23 years. The data on sports achievement motivation was obtained by using a questionnaire
developed by Kamlesh (1990). Statistics and independent 't' test were used to analyze the
obtained data at a 0.05 significance level.
Results and conclusion: The mean and standard deviation score of sports Achievement
motivation of male badminton players value of 25.03±-0.41 and female players value of 25.26
±0.41, respectively, are less than the tabulated value of 1.67 at 0.05 level of significance. Hence,
the result reveals that there is no statistically significant difference between male and female
state badminton players.
